The XPoNential Music Festival was back on the Camden Waterfront from 18 to 20 September, and for the weekend the whole thing was watchable from anywhere. WXPN, the Philadelphia station that produces the festival and is home to World Cafe, teamed with NPR Music again to carry a live video webcast of every set on the Wiggins Waterfront Park stage, streamed at XPN.org and through NPR.
The festival has spent more than a decade positioning itself as a discovery event rather than a headline-driven one, and the running order shows it. Sets start small and early and build through the day, with the largest names holding the last slot rather than dominating the bill. Subaru is the presenting sponsor.
Friday opened at 5pm with Te Vista, followed by Daniel Villarreal at 5:45pm, Devon Gilfillian at 6:25pm, Cyril Neville at 7:20pm and The Budos Band at 8:15pm, with Dawes closing at 9:15pm.
Saturday ran nine acts from 12:30pm. The Flying Vees opened, then Zoe Lemon at 1:05pm, Mackenzie Johnson at 1:40pm, Grace Gardner at 2:20pm, S.G. Goodman at 3:10pm, Couch at 4:05pm, St. Paul & The Broken Bones at 5:05pm and Leif Vollebekk at 6:05pm, before Portugal. The Man closed at 7:05pm.
Sunday was the roots-leaning day. Fat Mezz opened at 12:30pm, with Tyler Ballgame at 1:05pm, Sierra Hull at 1:55pm, Ratboys at 2:45pm, Langhorne Slim at 3:35pm, Rebirth Brass Band at 4:25pm and Madison Cunningham at 5:20pm, and Little Feat closing the weekend at 6:20pm. All times were Eastern and the station noted they were subject to change.
What the schedule shows is a bill with almost no overlap between the three days in style or scale, which is a harder thing to book than a lineup organised around one genre. A Sunday running Sierra Hull's mandolin into Rebirth Brass Band's New Orleans second line and out through Little Feat is the kind of sequencing a public radio station programmes and a promoter usually does not.
Livestreaming full festival bills has become standard rather than special: Outside Lands put its 2026 sets on Amazon Music, and Reading and Leeds published full stage times in advance for the same reason.
