Ye plays a 34,000-capacity stadium show on his Bully tour despite calls to cancel

Ye performed for 34,000 fans at Estadio do Algarve in Portugal on Friday, AllHipHop reported on August 9, delivering what the outlet called a clean set that included Stronger, Gold Digger and American Boy while standing atop a giant globe on the stadium pitch. His daughter North West joined him on stage for a duet during the show.

The concert was part of Ye's Bully tour, which has faced cancellations across the UK, France, Poland, Italy and the Czech Republic over his past antisemitic remarks. Portugal's Israeli ambassador, Oren Rozenblat, had publicly called for the Algarve show to be cancelled days earlier, pointing to Ye's history of comments glorifying Hitler and claiming slavery was a choice.

Portugal's government and the concert's promoter held firm, with the promoter dismissing the objections as misinformation and saying there was no legitimate security threat. Ye had separately tried his own damage control, publishing a full-page apology in the Wall Street Journal that described his past behavior as stemming from "a four-month manic episode of psychotic, paranoid and impulsive behavior" and said he had "lost touch with reality."

The Algarve date followed a run of high-earning US shows, including two nights in Tampa in June that brought in $3.44 million for that city's sports authority despite similar objections.

Ye is next scheduled to perform at Central Stadium in Almaty, Kazakhstan on August 14, followed by shows in New Orleans on August 28 and Chicago on September 3, AllHipHop reported. The Portugal date came during the ongoing promotion of his 12th studio album, Bully, which has been largely overshadowed by the rapper's legal and reputational fallout since 2022.
