Yungblud broke his leg in a motorbike accident but says he intends to go ahead with his scheduled live dates. The singer, whose real name is Dominic Harrison, posted images on social media on August 16 showing himself on crutches with a bandaged leg, writing: "Leg fucked. Still giggin. Still standin (sort of)." He confirmed he will still perform at the European festivals Pukkelpop and CA Vilar de Mouros this week, telling fans: "Portugal and Belgium I'm comin and it's gonna be fucking mad."
A representative for Yungblud told Billboard that the accident happened at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota last week. He played a live set at the event on August 9, per Setlist.FM, and told the crowd afterward that the injury would limit his usual stage movement: "I'm not gonna be able to hop around and fucking shake my ass like I usually do."
The accident lands in the middle of a heavy touring stretch for Yungblud, who is currently on the road behind his double album Idols, the second half of which was released earlier this year. NME's four-star review of both halves called the record proof that, "as the soundtrack to his most successful era yet," it "has helped guarantee the future of Yungblud." He played Lollapalooza in Chicago last month, where Smashing Pumpkins invited him onstage during their headline set, and has also performed at European dates including the Czechia edition of BludFest this summer, along with an appearance on the Madden NFL 27 soundtrack, tracked among this year's other game and film music placements.
Earlier this year he won his first Grammy, for Best Rock Performance, for a live cover of "Changes" at Ozzy Osbourne's farewell show, a milestone that has added weight to a year already built around Idols and a packed touring calendar.
Not every date on his calendar has gone ahead as planned. Harrison pulled out of an appearance at Calgary's Cowboys Music Festival earlier this summer, saying at the time he was "taking this extremely seriously and facing head on what's going on for the good of the long term." Whether the broken leg forces any further changes to his upcoming European festival dates has not been addressed beyond his statement that he intends to perform.
