Musician Yves Tumor denies sexual assault claims made by multiple women

Yves Tumor has been accused of sexual assault and other abusive behaviour by multiple women over the past week, in allegations that surfaced on social media and then spread through the rock musician's own fanbase.

The claims began on August 19, when the X account @1likeaverage reshared a post from the subreddit r/yvestumor. The anonymous post, a screenshot of an Instagram close friends story with the username removed, alleged that the artist, born Sean Lee Bowie and known to friends as Shanti, "forcefully groped" a woman close to the poster, bit her neck and held her down. The post said the incident had been reported to police.

Other women came forward in the days that followed. The musician Angel Money wrote on X that Tumor groped her at the release party for Frost Children's SISTER, and posted video she said showed it happening. Two more women who said they were at the same event described similar behaviour that night, one of them noting it was the same evening as his poorly received opening set for Swedish House Mafia.

The vocalist Kida, who sang uncredited on Tumor's 2023 track "Lovely Sewer", called touring with him "one of the most disrespectful professional experiences" of her career. She wrote that he pursued her sexually while emotionally abusing his girlfriend, who was also on the tour, and said Warp Records had offered her $1,000 to license her vocals without a credit a week before the album came out.

The artist and DJ Juliana Huxtable added that the allegations were "not shocking to anyone who knew and/or has toured with him", writing that she left an afterparty on a 2017 west coast run because of how he was behaving. Angel Money told The FADER her heart went out to everybody involved.

Tumor responded in an Instagram Story he then deleted, calling the accusations "100% untrue and also completely heartbreaking" and saying he would be "taking extreme legal action". A second deleted post said he had witnesses who could vouch for him and that his lawyer and publicist had told him not to speak.

None of the accusations has been tested in court, and no charges have been reported. Tumor remains on the bill as an opening act for Turnstile this autumn, including a September 12 date at Woodbine Park in Toronto, and neither the band nor the promoter has commented. Turnstile have had a busy year of their own, having recently expanded Never Enough into a remake project with Elton John and Slayyyter.
