Zara Larsson opens for Sombr's first European festival headline set at Sziget

Sombr headlined the Sziget festival in Budapest on August 11, in what NME described as his first European festival headline set, with Zara Larsson performing on the same main stage earlier that evening. Larsson drew a large crowd with a set that included "Midnight Sun" and "Lush Life," and later joined Sombr backstage before his own performance began, exiting a car with him and some of her dancers to walk to the stage together carrying red cocktails.

Sombr played songs from his debut album, I Barely Know Her, including "We Never Dated," "Under the Mat" and "Homewrecker," which set off the first big singalong of the night. "This is my first time ever playing a festival in Europe, and I'm headlining. What is going on?!" he told the crowd, adding that his heart was "in Budapest" after the reception he had received since arriving in Hungary.

Later in the set he played recent single "My Body Isn't Ready," which he introduced by acknowledging the "body image issues I've had with my body my whole life" and telling anyone in the crowd struggling with the same thing that they were "not alone." He closed with his two biggest hits, "Back to Friends" and "12 to 12," playing the latter twice; during "Back to Friends," he sprayed "Sombr <3 Budapest" on a flag and paraded it along the barrier before wrapping himself in a Hungarian flag for photos.

The Budapest show is the latest stop in a summer of festival dates for Sombr, who also played Lollapalooza in Chicago, where he brought out 5 Seconds of Summer for a version of "She Looks So Perfect." Sziget continued the following day with a headline set from Twenty One Pilots and performances from Biffy Clyro and Ashnikko.
