1tbsp and kid on air share the single Wish You Luck

1tbsp has released Wish You Luck, a track built with the Vienna-based artist kid on air. Behind the first name is Maxwell Byrne, an Australian producer and songwriter; behind the second is Juanita Sohe Pereira Lillo. Stereogum describes the result as head-scratching and hypnotic, which is a fair summary of a producer who has spent several years making music that resists being filed.

The collaboration is a long-distance one, Australia to Austria, and that is increasingly how this end of the electronic field works. Neither artist is signed to anything that would make a joint studio session practical, and the track arrives as a standalone release rather than as part of a campaign either side is running.

What gives the release its shape is the run it belongs to. Wish You Luck follows the singles Pink Dress and Soulseek, and Stereogum reads the three of them together as the announcement of a new era rather than three unconnected tracks. The reference point behind them is Hotel Living, the EP Byrne put out in 2025.

What is missing is any statement of where this is going. No album title, no label and no release date attaches to Wish You Luck in the report, and the rest of the Stereogum piece is behind a registration wall, so nothing further could be read from it. Three singles pointing at an unannounced record is a common enough pattern, but it is a pattern rather than a confirmation.

Other electronic producers have been working the same way this season, with Chloe Caillet releasing Change with Luke Alessi before an EP and Jacques Greene naming an album only after several singles. Anything 1tbsp does date will turn up on the release calendar.
