BEAUZ member Johan Yang needs nine staples after fainting on a flight

Johan Yang, one half of BEAUZ, is recovering after a fall on a long overnight flight left him with a head injury serious enough to need staples in his scalp.

Writing on Instagram, Yang said he had been asleep for roughly eight hours when he woke, stood up quickly and lost consciousness after only a few steps. He fell backward and struck the back of his head on the cabin floor.

When he came around, passengers were reacting to blood pouring from a gash in his scalp. He credited the EVA Air crew with keeping him calm and safe while he held pressure on the wound for the rest of the flight, unable to stop the bleeding himself.

Once the plane landed he was taken to Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, California. A CT scan found no internal bleeding, but the cut needed nine staples, and doctors told him to stay at home for 48 hours so he could be watched for signs of concussion.

The injury costs him a booking. He will not travel to Fresno for a set at Tidal Rave, and his brother and BEAUZ partner Bernie Yang is making that trip alone. A Minneapolis date at the Skyway Theatre remains on the schedule, with Bernie playing it either way while Johan waits on his medical team.

Yang joins a run of electronic and pop performers whose calendars have been rearranged by health this year, among them Kehlani, who paused a tour after a hospital visit, and producer Jay Versace, hospitalized after three seizures.
