Haywire have signed to Roadrunner Records, and celebrated by throwing money at their own audience. The Boston hardcore band opened up the pit at Sound and Fury last weekend and showered it with 5,000 dollars in cash, Rolling Stone reported on 19 August 2026.
On the Wednesday after the festival they announced the first album of the deal, I Don't Wanna Say Goodbye, out on 2 October. The single and official video Interstate Love Affair came with it.
The video opens with the cash going into the crowd at the festival and turns into an early-2000s MTV pastiche from there: firecrackers, wrecked hotel rooms, an amplifier that appears to have a mind of its own.
Haywire have only existed since 2023, and the touring has been relentless. In 2024 they played 96 dates across 50 states in 100 days, and as of this month they had more than 250 shows on the books, from opening slots for Turnstile and the Circle Jerks this autumn down to free sets played under bridges.
The recorded output has kept a similar pace. Five records in three years, the most recent being 2024's Conditioned for Demolition, had the band deep in the hardcore scene well before Roadrunner signed them.
I Don't Wanna Say Goodbye was produced by Mat Kerekes of Citizen and mixed by Taylor Young, and it brings in members of NOTHING and the Aggrolites as guests.
Signings have come thick this season for young rock bands, from Maple's Pet Dinosaur going global with Warner Music Australia to Aemia joining Artist House. Haywire's version of the announcement came with a pit full of loose cash.
