Carly Pearce says her fifth studio album, Honest Woman, due out August 28, will let fans know her on a deeper level than her earlier records, Taste of Country reported. Speaking as a guest on Taste of Country Nights, Pearce was asked what has stayed the same and what has changed heading into the new album.
"I think people are learning a lot more about me," Pearce said. "My vulnerability is stretching outside of just relationships." After a decade making music at this level, she remains a storyteller and songwriter first, but says this record pushes her openness into territory beyond the heartbreak narratives that have defined much of her catalog.
Pearce co-produced Honest Woman with her longtime friend Ben West, a partnership she credits with drawing out new sides of her as an artist. "I just think he brought out something in me that really is sonically the best music that I've ever made," she said, pointing to a noticeable shift in the album's overall sound compared to her past projects.
The result, according to Pearce, is an album that keeps her commitment to honest storytelling intact while widening the lens on who she is beyond her music.
Honest Woman arrives roughly a week after this announcement, giving country fans a short runway before the full record is available.
