Carly Pearce has released the music video for "Same Circus", one of the sharper songs on her new album Honest Woman, and it takes the song's central image literally. The clip is listed on the release calendar.
The video places Pearce at the centre of a travelling circus, surrounded by a tarot reader, a juggler and performers on stilts. Her revolving cast of partners gradually turn into clowns as she works out that she keeps landing in the same situation with different men.
The lyric spells the idea out plainly: "Same stage, different show / Different cowboy, same damn rodeo," she sings, before the line the video is built around, "Same circus, different clown."
Pearce wrote the song with Lauren Hungate, Jordan Reynolds and Emily Weisband. It sits on a 16-track album that also carries her single "If I Don't Leave I'm Gonna Stay" with Riley Green, plus "Happy For Myself" and "You Can Have Him".
The release comes days before she starts the Honest Woman: Up Close tour, which opens on September 10 at Saint Andrew's Hall in Detroit and takes the album around the country in smaller rooms.
Pearce has had a heavily documented year across country music, from an awkward moment filming the Riley Green duet video to a health update on her pericarditis.
