Dahi puts Kendrick Lamar and Amber Mark on the single How To Pray

Dahi has released How To Pray with Kendrick Lamar and Amber Mark on it, and it arrived alongside his album Black Boy (Alternative) on August 28. HotNewHipHop's Alexander Cole and Stereogum's Tom Breihan both wrote it up the same day.

The song is the one people were waiting for on a record with several guests. Lamar rarely appears on other people's releases, and each time he does it becomes the story of the week.

Musically it stays quiet. The instrumental is built on guitar chords, with Dahi pushing the rhythm around underneath, and Lamar answers it with a reserved performance that leans into vulnerability instead of technique. Amber Mark's vocals layer over the top, and the harmonising is the part reviewers keep pointing at.

Dahi is not a new name, just an unfamiliar one at the top of a credit. The Inglewood-born producer has spent years on other artists' records, and Black Boy (Alternative) puts his own name on the marquee for the first time at album length.

Lamar has been dropping in on collaborators all year. He appeared on his protege Baby Keem's album Ca$ino earlier in 2026, which makes How To Pray the second high-profile guest verse he has handed out in a year with no album of his own.
