DIIV have detailed their fifth album, ZIRP!, due October 30 through Fantasy Records, DIY and other outlets reported between August 6 and 11. A.G. Cook, the producer known for his work with Charli xcx, is behind the boards, and lead single The Fountain arrived alongside the announcement.
The rollout ran cryptic before the reveal, built around a hotline number and business cards rather than a traditional press push. Cook said his original plan was to deconstruct DIIV's demos on a computer before he became obsessed with the band's live sound instead, opting to record live drums and guitar takes rather than rebuild the songs digitally.
ZIRP! follows 2024's Frog in Boiling Water and pushes DIIV, long tagged with shoegaze, toward what the band calls "The New Alternative," brighter arrangements built on the same weighty themes.
The band will preview the new material at Brazil's Balaclava Fest on September 27 before a run of North American dates with Interpol in October, including a stop at Chicago's Salt Shed on October 11, plus a standalone Los Angeles show with Basement on October 20.
ZIRP! lands in our indie and rock coverage, on the release calendar, and it follows DIIV naming their new album ZIRP! and releasing The Fountain in our own earlier report, plus DIIV and Panda Bear joining the 2026 Pitchfork Festival London bill.
