E-40 and Busta Rhymes have released a new song together, "Play If You Want," HotNewHipHop reported on August 14. The track previews E-40's upcoming album, Turning My Money Over, and finds the two veteran MCs trading verses over a hard-hitting beat: "Tall bank, game sharper than a shank," E-40 raps on his opening bars.

HotNewHipHop describes the pairing as two rap veterans playing off each other well, calling the result a song with two familiar, distinct styles working together rather than one artist deferring to the other. Busta Rhymes has his own project on the way too, produced entirely by J Dilla and due later this month, a tribute album called Dillagence.

E-40, a Bay Area rap veteran going back to the late 1980s with the Click, has kept up a steady release pace for decades; Turning My Money Over is only his latest addition to a catalog stretching back more than 35 years. He has also recently been the subject of a pitch from fellow Bay Area rapper Too Short for a two-on-two Verzuz matchup, rather than a rematch of their earlier one-on-one battle.

"Play If You Want" is out now. The song adds to this week's new hip-hop releases, tracked on the release calendar.
