Four Tet has released a recording of his Alexandra Palace set in full, out now and available exclusively through Apple Music. Clash reports the performance was taped on November 22 as part of a longer run at the North London venue.
The set is career-spanning rather than a promotional lap for one record. Clash describes a producer reworking his own catalogue on the fly, keeping an improvisatory edge inside the larger structures he had built for the room.
The scale of it is unusual for a release of this kind. The performance draws on 57 separate tracks, and this version presents the whole thing rather than an edited highlights reel, which is the more common approach when a live set becomes a product.
Alexandra Palace holds several thousand people, and the run there was a step up in room size for a producer whose reputation was built in clubs and on festival stages. Putting out the complete recording rather than a shortened edit treats the night as a single piece of work.
