HiJinx Festival books Excision b2b Wooli and Subtronics for its eighth year

HiJinx Festival is closing out the year in Philadelphia again, and the eighth edition has a bill heavy enough to hold its own against anything else booked for new year's eve. The organisers have put it on 30 and 31 December at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, a long-running destination for East Coast bass fans.

Excision b2b Wooli lead the lineup, alongside Subtronics, Ray Volpe b2b Sullivan King, Tape B, DJ Diesel and Dabin, with a deep support roster built out of the acts this audience turns up for. LEVEL UP, TroyBoi and INZO are among the rest.

Subtronics has always represented the city he came up in, which turns the booking into a homecoming rather than another date. He has gone from a favourite of the local scene to one of the hardest-touring acts in dubstep, and Philadelphia is where that started. He also put out a single called Bird Phone this year.

Tape B arrives with a different kind of momentum. EDM.com named him to its Class of 2025 and describes his sample-driven, wobbling take on bass as one of the fastest-rising sounds in the genre, which is the sort of billing that moves an act up a festival poster quickly.

The rest of the top of the bill covers a wide spread. DJ Diesel is the electronic alias of Shaquille O'Neal, whose sets trade on exactly the scale you would expect. Dabin's melodic writing gives the weekend its emotional counterweight, and Wooli has spent the year pushing further into dubstep alongside other producers, including a collaboration with Kaskade on Hear Me Now.
