Interrogation video shows police restraining the rapper Foolio's killer

Police footage from the arrest of one of the men who killed Foolio went round social media on 20 August 2026, two years after it was recorded and two months after he was sentenced to life without parole. XXL published the clips the following day.

The recordings date from 27 July 2024, with Sean Gathright held at a police station. In one, an officer tells him his own carelessness is the reason everyone was caught, listing the prints, the phone, the gun and the casings. "You brought the whole group down," the officer says. It is not an interrogation tactic so much as a summary of the case file.

In a second clip Gathright is left alone in the room and tries to get through the ceiling. When officers come in and tell him to stop he refuses to sit, and four of them take him to the floor.

Foolio was ambushed and shot in a hotel car park in Tampa in the summer of 2024. Prosecutors described the killing as part of a running gang feud in Jacksonville, Florida. Gathright, Isaiah Chance, Davion Murphy and Rashad Murphy were convicted in May 2026 and sentenced the following month, with Judge Michelle Sisco handing each of them life without the possibility of parole on the first-degree murder count, plus concurrent time on other charges. A fifth defendant, Alicia Andrews, was convicted of manslaughter in 2025 and sentenced to 15 years.

Three of the four men spoke before sentencing. Gathright's mother and grandmother asked the court for a second chance for him, and he addressed the judge himself, arguing that his upbringing had counted against him and that it was unfair to be judged for what he did before his brain had finished developing. The argument did not move the sentence.

Old arrest footage surfacing long after a verdict has become a recurring feature of rap crime coverage, and it tends to arrive without the context that makes it mean anything.
