Bodycam footage recorded on 6 November 2020 surfaced on 24 August 2026, showing an Atlanta officer walking up to Lul Timm as he lay in a bed at Grady Memorial Hospital and putting him in handcuffs. The officer tells him he does not know what is going on but that he is in custody. Moments later, out of the room, he tells other investigators that King Von has been declared dead nearby.
The rapper, born Dayvon Bennett, was killed outside a hookah lounge in downtown Atlanta at around 3am. A fight between his group and Quando Rondo's ended with the two camps exchanging gunfire. Two police officers reportedly tried to intervene and were not hurt. Six people were shot and three of them died, King Von among them.
Lul Timm, born Timothy Leeks and affiliated with Quando Rondo, was initially charged with felony murder. Prosecutors dropped that charge in August 2023, which is the detail most of the commentary around the resurfaced video leaves out.
The timing of the release is the part that matters now. It coincided with the opening of Lil Durk's murder-for-hire trial in Los Angeles, where federal prosecutors argue that King Von's death set everything in motion. Their case is that Durk paid five men to travel to California in August 2022 to kill Quando Rondo in revenge, and that the attempt killed Rondo's cousin, Saviay'a Robinson, instead.
Six-year-old police video reappearing on YouTube in the same week a federal jury is being seated is not a coincidence anyone has to explain, but it does not add evidence to either case. It shows an arrest that led to a charge that no longer exists.
