Kane Brown has a new collaboration with Shania Twain arriving on Friday, September 4. "Boots (ft. Shania Twain)" comes out through Sony Music Nashville, and it is built as an homage to one of the best-known titles in Twain's catalogue.
That title is "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?", written by Twain and released in 1995 as the lead single from The Woman in Me. It was a turning point in her career: her first top 40 country hit, her first RIAA-certified gold single and her first entry on the Billboard Hot 100. Brown's version flips the vantage point, taking the same image and putting a contemporary male perspective on it.
The pairing puts two generations of the format on one track. Twain is a five-time Grammy winner whose seventh album, Little Miss Twain, arrived in late July; she spent part of this summer opening 12 London stadium shows for Harry Styles. Brown is in the middle of his own run: "Woman" has become his 14th No. 1 at country radio, and earlier this summer he opened Kane Brown's On Broadway in downtown Nashville.
His calendar around the release is busy. On September 5 he headlines Amazon Music presents Off to College at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a concert and livestream. He plays Mount Pleasant, Michigan on September 12 and Hollywood, Florida on November 12 as part of Audacy's Stars & Strings event.
Brown has also kept building a screen career alongside the music, guest-starring in Nashville 911 last year and executive producing the Lifetime holiday film Thank God: Christmas at Keller Ranch.
Duets are becoming a habit for him. He reunited with Lauren Alaina earlier this month for "Never Been In Love", and Twain's own recent work drew a mixed reception when Little Miss Twain landed in July. More country releases are collected on the genre hub.
