Kane Brown has pushed his next album from this autumn to spring 2027, and the reason he gave is unusually plain: for a while he was not feeling the music. The country singer explained the delay to Bobby Bones while still recovering from a golf ball injury that left him with 23 stitches and what he described as a slight concussion a few weeks earlier.
The problem was direction rather than material. He said he had been all over the place with the record, pulled between wanting to write songs or stories and wanting it to sound old school, not just country but reaching for something closer to 1950s music. Those are not the same album, and trying to make them one is what stalled him.
The unlock came from other people. He recalled being told that his album does not have to sound cohesive, since none of his albums have, and that he should stop trying to make this one the exception. His reaction was to agree. He now says he is in love with the record.
He also said the album will lean harder on outside songs than his previous work. He does not usually carry many, and reckons he has three or four this time that are genuinely hits, including one he posted recently. He was careful to add that this is not his most personal project, and that it is instead a collection of songs he loves and thinks his audience will love too.
There is one exception to that, arriving before the album does. Next month Brown releases "Whose Bed My Boots Have Been Under", a response to Shania Twain's 1995 single "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?", with Twain on backing vocals. He described it as the guy's version, said the personal element is that he grew up on the original, and stressed it is not a copy even though parts of the melody carry over.
The delay reshuffles his year rather than emptying it. Brown has three US shows left in 2026 before taking a few months off, then heads to Australia in January 2027 for dates including Brisbane.
He has been busy with duets in the meantime. Brown and Twain already teamed up on a song, and he reunited with Lauren Alaina for Never Been In Love. The rescheduled album joins the rest of the country slate on the release calendar.
