Little Grandad announce their debut album Speak Softly, Son with Tiny Feet

Little Grandad have announced their first album, Speak Softly, Son, and released a new single called "Tiny Feet". The Line of Best Fit and NME both reported the news on September 1, as the London four-piece opened a UK headline tour.

The band came together barely a year ago, when brothers Jack and Harry Lower found themselves back at the family home after university. Harry had been quietly writing songs about real London people and real London things; showing them to his brother turned a private habit into a group.

Jack plays bass and sings, Harry plays guitar and sings, and the two built what they call their blood harmonies out of trading vocals on those early songs. Ned Ashcroft joined on guitar and trumpet, and Jimmy Brennan on drums.

The band cite Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and Neil Young, and their sound links Americana and slacker rock with British indie guitar music. They skipped the usual first step on purpose. "We were like, we're gonna skip the EP - let's go for the album," Jack told NME in July.

"Tiny Feet" shows off the close vocal harmonies, opening with hushed guitar before it builds. It follows earlier singles "Babe, We've Run Out Of Time", "Sleepwalking" and "Unmasked", and the album is tracked on the release calendar.

The UK run opened with a sold-out show at The Croft in Bristol and takes in Nottingham, Brighton Psych Fest, Moseley Folk Festival, End of the Road and a London date at the Scala on September 16, before European festival stops. The band's rock and indie rise sits alongside other first records logged here, including Sofish's debut Femme Illustree and flowerovlove's Mini Skirt Warrior.
