Chase & Status recruit Little Simz and Skrillex for new album

Chase & Status have announced their upcoming album Generic Everything, out October 9, and shared new single "Gone Too Far," featuring Debbie.

Generic Everything marks a new chapter for the duo following their 2023 mixtape 2 RUFF, Vol. 1. The announcement follows the recent single "Disgruntled," featuring J Hus and IRAH, with "Gone Too Far" offering a second glimpse into the record. The album's full guest list is stacked, including Skrillex, following their surprise B2B set at Boomtown last week, alongside Little Simz, Giggs, D Double E, Blanco, Col3trane and more.

The duo describe the album as "about resisting the pressure to become the same as everyone else," framing a cube-shaped visual motif as their symbol for that pressure. "This album is about pushing back," they said, against a culture increasingly "shaped by AI, algorithms and endless content."

The 10-track record spans collaborations across genres, from "Carnage" with Little Simz to "Essa Ta Quente" with Skrillex and "Timber" with Giggs, reflecting Chase & Status's long-running role as connectors between UK bass music and hip-hop and grime. The pair also headline this year's Reading & Leeds festival alongside acts including Charli XCX and Florence + The Machine, in a summer that has also brought new pairings like Illenium and Said The Sky's "When The Light Breaks".

Generic Everything arrives via 2RUFF Records on October 9, extending a run for Chase & Status that has spanned more than two decades at the center of UK electronic and bass music; the release is tracked alongside other fall albums in the release calendar.
