Singer Nick Cave looks back at the Preston Park show with Kylie Minogue

Nick Cave has reflected on his and the Bad Seeds' show at Brighton's Preston Park, which his manager told him was the city's biggest ticketed show ever, NME reported on August 3. The band played to over 50,000 people on July 31, a UK exclusive set celebrating their acclaimed 2024 album "Wild God," with support from the Flaming Lips, English Teacher, Cate Le Bon and Warmduscher, plus a surprise stripped back set on the roof of the city's Resident Records earlier that day.

Kylie Minogue joined the band onstage for an emotional performance of "Where the Wild Roses Grow." Cave described her, writing on his Red Hand Files website, as "a performer who only gives, gives and gives, then retreats, as ghosts and great performers do," and noted that the white lace dress she wore was made by his wife, designer Susie Cave.

Reflecting the morning after from the Brighton promenade, Cave called the show a "big day for The Bad Seeds," saying he felt pride at a band that could play a record store rooftop in the morning and nearly 50,000 people that same evening "with the same ferocious intention." He called the night "a homecoming in many different ways."

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds continue touring behind "Wild God" with a run of European festival dates, and Cave has said the band is already "messing around" in the studio on a follow up album. Since the record's release he has also featured on Flea's debut solo album "Honora" and recorded a new version of "Red Right Hand" for Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man.
