Nipsey Hussle and mentee Bino Rideaux released their album "Prolific" on August 14, a record the two recorded and sequenced back in 2017 and the first posthumous release from Hussle since his 2019 death. YG, who has long been rumored to have unreleased material with Hussle, does not appear on "Prolific."

Nipsey's older brother and manager, Blacc Sam, says a joint project between Hussle and YG could still be coming. In an interview with Bootleg Kev, Sam explained that the session that produced the pair's politically charged 2016 song "FDT" was originally part of a larger project: "I think that 'F**k Donald Trump' came from those sessions, from one of those sessions and they just ended up leaking it."

Sam said the team gathered material from Hussle's collaborators to see what existed in the vault, and that some of it could surface differently: as a soundtrack for an upcoming documentary about Hussle, built from songs that are close to finished or never landed on a specific project. He described it as a way to trace Hussle's growth over time, from when he was younger to more recent sessions.

It remains unclear when the YG project or documentary soundtrack might arrive. In the meantime, "Prolific" is out now on Apple Music and Spotify.

The album lands in the release calendar among the rest of August's new hip-hop releases from Nipsey Hussle and Bino Rideaux.
