Nipsey Hussle and YG's unreleased joint album may be in development

Nipsey Hussle's family says a joint album with YG could still be released, after the rapper's brother and manager, Blacc Sam, said unreleased sessions from the two artists exist. Blacc Sam's comments, made on the Bootleg Kev podcast, came the same week Nipsey Hussle's estate put out Prolific, a posthumous joint project with Bino Rideaux.

Prolific featured guest spots from James Fauntleroy, BH and Cardi B, but left out YG, one of Nipsey Hussle's closest collaborators and his partner on the politically charged single "FDT." Blacc Sam said that record grew out of a larger set of sessions between the two rappers. "I think that 'Fuck Donald Trump' came from those sessions, from one of those sessions and they just ended up leaking it," he said, adding that much of the surrounding material was gathered up when the estate went looking for what still existed.

Blacc Sam also said the estate is planning music tied to an upcoming Nipsey Hussle documentary, timing unfinished tracks to different chapters of the film to trace how Nipsey Hussle's sound changed over his career. "The soundtrack to the documentary is where dope records that are close to being complete... are going to go," he said, describing songs timestamped so listeners could tell "Hussle was younger here, Hussle older here." No release date has been set for a Nipsey Hussle and YG album, and Blacc Sam's comments stop short of confirming the project is finished or scheduled.
