Peaches plays two Argentina dates in November, her first in a decade

Peaches is going back to Argentina for the first time in ten years, with two dates in November. The Canadian performer and producer plays Club Paraguay in Cordoba on 12 November and Deseo in Buenos Aires on 14 November, with tickets already on sale through AlPogo and Enigma Tickets.

Born Merrill Beth Nisker in Toronto in 1966, she reshaped a slice of independent music after settling in Berlin at the start of the century, welding punk rock, electroclash and performance art into something that did not sound much like any of them separately.

The turning point was The Teaches of Peaches in 2000, her second album. Its lead single, Fuck the Pain Away, pushed her into global recognition on a minimal setup built around drum machines and analogue bass lines, and it remains the song most listeners meet her through.

Her work has run on a consistent set of concerns since then: gender identity, feminism and the politics of the body, staged with enough visual and sonic force to make the argument physical rather than theoretical. That is as true of the live show as it is of the records.

Across more than two decades she has pushed the same project into opera, film and visual art, and has worked with Iggy Pop, Yoko Ono and Jean-Michel Jarre along the way. Argentine promoters have been steadily filling the calendar with that kind of long running electronic and pop act.

Buenos Aires in particular has had a busy run of announcements, including New Order booking a December date at Mandarine Park and Sudan Archives announcing her first ever Argentina show. Both sit on the tour guide alongside these two November dates.
