Michelle Dick, 55, accused of attacking and stalking Lindsey Buckingham, has been ruled unfit to stand trial, NME reported on August 7. Judge Robert S. Harrison found her not "trial-competent," and ruled it medically appropriate to treat her psychiatric condition with medication, following a report from a court-appointed doctor.
Dick allegedly violated a 2024 restraining order, with prosecutors saying she made unwanted contact with Buckingham from October 2021 to March 2026. Court filings say she told police Buckingham was her father and accused him of "suffocating her as a child." She confronted him last March, throwing an unknown substance in his face; police believed she had been waiting for his arrival, though Buckingham was uninjured.
She was arrested in Indiana in April and charged with stalking a second victim, named in documents as Stephanie N, along with vandalizing Buckingham's vehicle and making a criminal threat. She has pleaded not guilty on all seven charges.
Further rulings are due at a hearing scheduled for August 27; Dick could qualify for a mental-health diversion program and have her charges dismissed if she completes it.
Elsewhere, Stevie Nicks and Buckingham have something lined up for 2027. The two reissued their 1973 album Buckingham Nicks last year, its first time publicly available since its original release, and Nicks said afterward the two were back on speaking terms: "Lindsey and I started talking about it last night. This whole thing seems really like yesterday to us."
