Queens of the Stone Age tease new album "Perfecth" in bloody teaser video

Queens of the Stone Age announced their next album, Perfecth, in a new teaser video built around a grim party trick. Frontman Josh Homme and guitarist and keyboardist Dean Fertita play a round of five-finger fillet, the game where a knife stabs the gaps between splayed fingers, and it goes wrong when Homme's blade lands in his own hand.

Before the blood, Fertita asks Homme when the record is coming out; Homme answers, "September 30th, I think." By the end of the clip, that date is crossed out and replaced with "coming soon," leaving the actual release timing unresolved. Since new albums typically arrive on Fridays and September 30 falls on a Wednesday, the date was never a sure thing to begin with.

Perfecth follows the band's 2023 album In Times New Roman..., their most recent full-length, and comes after the release last month of "Easy Street" via Matador Records, the first single from this new era.

The teaser lands as Queens of the Stone Age keep the news coming; a companion announcement from NME the same week filled in more details, including the band's ongoing tour dates with Foo Fighters.

Homme has kept the band in headlines beyond the album news, too. He was recently reported to have defied a $10,000 smoking fine at a Detroit show, around the same stretch the band has been playing arena and stadium dates as Foo Fighters' direct support on their Take Cover Tour, including stops in Regina on September 15, Edmonton on September 17 and Vancouver on September 20. Perfecth will join the rest of the year's rock releases on the release calendar once a firm date lands.
