Tiny Habits share the single Love Ruins Everything from the album Keepers

Tiny Habits have released Love Ruins Everything, the newest song from Keepers, the album they put out on 28 August through Mom+Pop Music. It arrived a day before the record itself, which makes it less a preview than a final signpost.

The song sits on a contradiction the trio are open about. It moves between wanting to be in a relationship while single and wanting independence while in one, which is a small enough idea to carry a single and a familiar enough one to land quickly.

Their own explanation of it runs longer than the song deserves and is better for it. They describe being the only single person in a bar on Valentine's Day, looking across at a cracked leather booth, loneliness making the drink taste like gasoline. Then the reverse: finally in love, forgetting your friends exist, and losing a trip to Cancun when it ends.

The conclusion they draw is deliberately unhelpful. "We either want to be in love or desperately wish it had never happened to us," the band said, before adding that love can be wonderful and ruinous at once.

Keepers has been previewed steadily rather than in one push. Anything He Was, featuring Matty Healy, came first, followed by Right In Front Of Me and Belt Loop, so a decent share of the album was public before release day.

Three part harmony groups have had an unusually good run in indie and pop over the past few years, and Mom+Pop has been one of the labels backing them. The release sits on the release calendar alongside other late August records, including The Avalanches setting No Bad Memories for 16 October and flowerovlove confirming her debut Mini Skirt Warrior.
