Rapper Trippie Redd calls his 6ix9ine song Poles 1469 his worst

Trippie Redd has been asked to name the song of his own that he likes least, and answered without hesitating. The track is "Poles 1469", his collaboration with 6ix9ine, recorded months before the two fell out in 2017 and never spoken of warmly since.

"That song is nothing to me... that's my worst song," he said during a stream with N3on, adding a caveat that reads as a distinction rather than a defence: he does not think his own part was bad. The problem is who is on the other half of it.

The feud has run for close to a decade and shows no sign of resolving. Earlier this year 6ix9ine revisited it with DJ Vlad, describing his role in the dispute and claiming his security once had Trippie Redd spinning through a set of revolving doors. He also said he had taken the "Gummo" beat that Pi'erre Bourne had originally reserved for Trippie Redd, and argued Trippie would not have known what to do with it.

That beat is the reason the story keeps coming back. "Gummo" changed the direction of late-2010s rap and turned 6ix9ine into a major commercial figure until his RICO case ended that phase of his career. Whatever the merits of his account, the counterfactual he is describing is a real one: the song might have been somebody else's.

Which makes "Poles 1469" an awkward artefact for Trippie Redd. It is a genuine hit, still in his catalogue and still streaming, made with someone whose subsequent conduct has become the defining fact about him. Disowning the song is one of the few options available short of pulling it.

Reconciliation looks unlikely from either side. 6ix9ine has spent the years since his release building a second career as a streamer and media personality, largely as a commentator on informing, which is an attention economy that pays without requiring new music.

Trippie Redd, meanwhile, has kept releasing. The hip-hop desk has followed several artists dealing with the aftermath of old collaborations this year, and the pattern is consistent: the song stays up, the relationship does not.
