Indie band Wild Pink share video for the title track "Still Coming Down"

Wild Pink, the band led by John Ross, shared a video for "Still Coming Down," the title track and fourth single from their new album, which arrives on the release calendar Friday, August 21 via Fire Talk. It follows three earlier singles: "Round of Applause At the End of the World," album opener "Box Store," and "500 Is The New 250."

Ross called it his favorite song on the record right now, pointing to Meg Duffy's fretless guitar playing and Landon George's fiddle as details he loves in the arrangement. "This song isn't about any one single thing but it's mostly about my son and feeling overwhelming love," he said.

Vocal takes came together more quickly than on previous Wild Pink records. "There was not a ton of overthinking," Ross said of the sessions.

The album followed 2024's Dulling the Horns and was recorded across one week in Asheville, North Carolina at Drop of Sun studios with producer and engineer Alex Farrar, who has also worked with Bnny, Wednesday and Samia; longtime drummer Dan Keegan plays throughout, joined by guests Duffy (also known by her solo name, Hand Habits), MJ Lenderman and Lenderman's bandmates Landon George and Xandy Chelmis.

The record marks a turning point for Ross personally. His 2022 album ILYSM was written around his cancer diagnosis; since then he's beaten the disease and become a father for the first time, changes that show up directly in songs like "Still Coming Down." "Strangely, I feel like I've found my voice on this record," he said, a shift that gives Still Coming Down a different center of gravity than the indie and rock band's earlier, more anxious records.
