Beth Gibbons books her first Argentina tour date for May 2027

Beth Gibbons will perform in Argentina for the first time on 27 May 2027, at C Art Media in Buenos Aires. The date belongs to her first tour of South America, and tickets were still to be announced when the show was confirmed.

The run is short and takes in three countries. She opens on 23 May in Sao Paulo, plays Buenos Aires on 27 May, and closes on 30 May in Santiago de Chile. She announced it on Instagram, writing that she was incredibly excited to finally be going to South America and could not wait to see people there.

For Argentine listeners this closes a gap that has been open for decades. The audience there has held a particular attachment to Portishead and to Gibbons as a voice, and she remains one of the defining presences of British alternative music from the 1990s and of the Bristol scene that produced trip hop.

The visit comes at a settled point in her solo career. Lives Outgrown, her first solo album, arrived in May 2024 after being written and recorded across more than a decade, and was nominated for the Mercury Prize. James Ford, known for work with Arctic Monkeys and Depeche Mode, produced it, with additional production from Lee Harris of Talk Talk.

She has described that record as the most personal thing she has made. It came out of a stretch of departures, from family and friends and from an earlier version of herself, and its ten songs deal with motherhood, anxiety, the menopause and mortality.

Buenos Aires has been collecting first visits and returns at pace, including Sudan Archives announcing her first ever Argentina show and American Football announcing a return to the country. This indie date joins the rest of the 2027 routing on the tour guide.
