Portishead singer Beth Gibbons announces her first Argentina concert

Beth Gibbons has announced her first ever concert in Argentina. Rolling Stone en Espanol reported that the British singer will play C Art Media in Buenos Aires on 27 May 2027, as part of a South American tour that also takes in Brazil and Chile.

She made the announcement herself rather than through a promoter, confirming it on her social accounts. "Estoy increiblemente emocionada de contarles que finalmente voy a ir a Sudamerica en 2027," she wrote, saying she could not wait to see people there.

The routing is compact. The tour opens on 23 May in Sao Paulo, continues to Buenos Aires on 27 May and finishes on 30 May in Santiago de Chile, with Buenos Aires tickets to be announced separately.

Her work with Portishead helped define the sound of trip hop through the 1990s, and the Argentine audience has held on to that connection for decades without ever getting a show. That is what makes a single date read as overdue rather than routine.

The visit lands at a settled moment in her solo career. Lives Outgrown, her first album under her own name, came out in May 2024 after more than ten years of work and was nominated for the Mercury Prize. James Ford produced it, with additional production from Lee Harris of Talk Talk.

Across its ten songs she writes about motherhood, the passing of time, anxiety, the menopause and mortality, which is not the register most 1990s vocalists return with. The date joins a busy Argentine calendar that includes New Order's December booking at Mandarine Park and Foo Fighters setting an Argentina show for February 2027. It sits on the tour guide with the rest of the rock routing.
