Cameron Winter's concert film, documenting his December 2025 solo performance at Carnegie Hall, will open in theaters starting November 20 via Janus Films and Criterion. Rather than a wide, simultaneous release, prints of the film, shot on 35mm and 16mm, will tour North American theaters through mid-January.
The film is directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and co-produced by Benny Safdie, known for The Smashing Machine and Uncut Gems, with Sara Murphy, Erica Frauman and Maggie Ambrose also producing.
Winter, frontman of the band Geese, played the Carnegie Hall date in December 2025 while the shockwaves from Geese's mainstream breakthrough album, Getting Killed, were still rippling outward, roughly three months after that record led to a Saturday Night Live performance and heavy rotation on the global festival circuit. At Carnegie Hall, Winter played songs from his 2024 solo album Heavy Metal alongside unreleased material in a minimalist solo piano set, footage of which quickly went viral online, helped along by Anderson's own visible presence onstage, filming with a massive vintage camera rig. Anderson was, at the time, only a few months from winning his first Oscars, for One Battle After Another.
A companion live album from the same night, Live at Carnegie Hall, produced by Ariel Rechtshaid, arrives October 9, ahead of the film.
Winter remains on the road with Geese, who continue touring behind Getting Killed through the fall, meaning fans can catch him twice over in different settings this season, on stage with his band and solo on screen.
The theatrical run opens November 20 in New York, at the Village East by Angelika and BAM Rose Cinemas, and in Los Angeles at the Aero Theater, before expanding to cities including San Francisco's Castro Theatre on December 2, Chicago's Music Box Theatre on December 4, Nashville's Belcourt Theatre on December 11 and Portland's Hollywood Theatre in mid-January.
The release adds a genuinely unusual format, a 35mm theatrical tour, to the run of new indie music reaching audiences this fall.
