Carly Pearce gives a health update, says her pericarditis has held steady

Carly Pearce says her recurrent pericarditis has been stable, in an interview with Taste of Country Nights host Evan Paul published August 13. She said fans are starting to see her return to strong cardiovascular health through her running, and summed up her progress simply: "I feel really good, and I'm really grateful."

Pericarditis is swelling and irritation of the pericardium, the thin sac of tissue around the heart, and it often causes sharp chest pain, Taste of Country notes, citing the Mayo Clinic. Pearce has said the condition has affected her live performances too, since she has had to keep her heart rate down while touring.

She first went public with a more serious episode a couple of summers ago, and has had smaller flare-ups since, which she said have stayed manageable. Pearce said she is grateful for where her health stands now, even after the difficult stretches along the way.

The update comes during a busy stretch of publicity for Pearce, who is also readying a fifth studio album she has called her most vulnerable yet, and who recently described an awkward moment filming a steamy duet video with Riley Green.

Pearce has been open with fans about how pericarditis affects her performances, since keeping her heart rate down on stage has become part of how she manages the condition while she continues to tour as a country artist.
