Darkest Hour have given their next album a release date and a title track. Suffer Divine arrives 30 October through MNRK Heavy, produced by Mark Lewis, and the band shared the title song with the announcement. Metal Injection reported the news, and the album is tracked on the release calendar.
The melodic death metal band had trailed the record back in July without a date. This announcement fills in the specifics and gives listeners the first thing to hear from it.
"Our first single and title track of the new album Suffer Divine is about justice and accountability," singer John Henry said, aiming it at anyone who pushes hatred and division to feed their own ego.
That hostility carries into the performance. Henry's vocal is harsher than usual across the track, which sets up the bitterness running through the rest of the record.
Guitarist Mike Schleibaum said the album is dense as well as aggressive, born out of a love for melodic death metal, and called the result equal parts hope, rage and empathy. He described the writing as an act of drawing self-worth from suffering, which is where the title came from.
The eleven-track listing runs from "All Cruelty Springs From Weakness" to "A Story Of Redemption". The band then tour for a fortnight with Fear Factory and Brotality in November, from Wichita on the 13th to two nights at the Whisky A Go Go in Los Angeles, joining a busy metal touring season alongside Megadeth's European farewell leg and releases such as Pain of Truth's single Stranded.
