A new track possibly involving Fred again.., Joy Anonymous and Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter is circulating online, EDM.com reported on August 4, based on a post in the r/DaftPunk subreddit. None of the three had confirmed the collaboration as of the report.
The claim traces to Joy Anonymous's BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, which aired the week before. A listener pinpointed an unreleased track around the 1:28:00 mark, playing just before "Glow," the trio's 2022 collaboration with Skrillex, Four Tet and Duskus. An Instagram Story from Joy Anonymous, since taken down, reportedly tagged the track with its title and producers.
The track would mark a rare new production credit for Bangalter, whose studio and live appearances have thinned out since Daft Punk split in 2021. His ties to Fred again.. have grown over the past year, including a back-to-back set at London's Alexandra Palace that closed the four-date run of Fred's USB002 tour. Joy Anonymous joined Fred again.. onstage during the same run and appear on his 2024 album "Ten Days," on the track "Peace U Need."
Bangalter's other credits this year include describing his score for "Tron: Legacy" as depressing work to make, as he told an interviewer earlier in August. The rumor is filed under our electronic coverage.
