Geese played two sold-out shows in Glasgow on August 25 and 26, warming up for Reading and Leeds and marking Dolly Parton's death in the middle of a song.
The first of the two came hours after Parton's death was announced. The band often work covers into live performances of "2122", and on that night frontman Cameron Winter paused, said rest in peace Dolly, and held his phone up to the microphone to play her 1977 hit "Here You Come Again" through the PA.
The second night produced something different. Geese played "Disco", from 2021, for the first time on this tour, and worked The Jesus and Mary Chain's "Just like Honey" into the middle of "2122" instead. Both sets closed with "Taxes" and returned for "Trinidad".
The Glasgow dates were the last before the festival weekend. The band played Reading on August 28 and Leeds on August 29, then headline two shows at London's Troxy on September 1 and 2, and open End Of The Road on September 3.
Their most recent album, Getting Killed, has been the spine of the sets, but the two Glasgow setlists share only about half their songs, which is unusual for a band this size on consecutive nights in the same city.
Winter has had a busy year outside the band as well, with a Carnegie Hall concert film heading to theatres in November. The rock and indie band's remaining dates are on the tour guide, and Parton, who died at 80, was marked from stages across the week.
