Johnny Marr will play a single Buenos Aires show at C Art Media on Thursday, November 26, Indie Hoy reported on August 12, with tickets going on sale August 14 through Passline starting around 95,000 pesos, with a 25 percent discount for the outlet's Comunidad Indie Hoy members.
The British guitarist, who co-founded The Smiths before going on to work with The The, Electronic, Modest Mouse and The Cribs, is presenting his fifth solo studio album, The Age of Everything, on the tour. He has released four previous UK top-10 albums as a soloist since his 2013 debut, The Messenger, followed by Playland (2014), Call the Comet (2018) and Fever Dreams Pts 1-4 (2022), alongside Spirit Power: The Best of Johnny Marr, a career-spanning compilation that included two previously unreleased songs.
Marr described The Age of Everything as the most cathartic album of his career. "The title surfaced early in the process and became an idea I couldn't shake," he said, according to Indie Hoy, adding that once he had the phrase he "couldn't get it out of my head" because it summed up how he thinks a lot of people feel.
He also spoke about his approach to songwriting on the record, saying he tends to write about "the outside world" with only "forays into my personal life," preferring to "keep poetic license and not be too specific." He added that after five albums he now recognizes a style of his own built around perception, in "the complex task of being human."
This will be Marr's fourth visit to Argentina. He first played the country at Lollapalooza's local debut in 2014, followed by his own sideshow at Niceto Club and a return the following year. C Art Media, the Chacarita venue hosting the November show, opened in 2019 inside a former metalworking factory and has become one of Latin America's larger private arts complexes, joining the tour guide among the fall's new rock dates.
