Joy Crookes has released "Feet Don't Fail Me Now (Part 2)", a new version of the song featuring Ravyn Lenae. The Line of Best Fit reported the release on September 1, and it is listed on the release calendar.
The original arrived in 2021 as a single from Skin, the South London singer-songwriter's debut album. The rework follows Juniper, her second album, which came out last year.
Crookes described the song as written from the perspective of someone who finds it easier to stay complicit out of a fear of being cancelled. She said she hopes it encourages people to be a bit braver.
She pointed to the chorus as the universal part, the line about guessing she was scared and being better in denial, and framed the wider message as an argument for opening up a dialogue and making mistakes, because that is how progress happens.
Lenae comes to the track off a busy stretch of her own. She released her third album, Blue Island, and had a viral hit with "Love Me Not".
"Feet Don't Fail Me Now (Part 2)" is out on Insanity Records. The pairing continues a run of rnb and soul and pop collaborations for Crookes, whose recent work includes the Bonobo track Always On Your Side, and it lands alongside other reworked catalogue songs such as a reggae covers album of Diane Warren's songwriting.
