Miley Cyrus has announced her tenth studio album, Bass Persuades, and has dropped her surname in the process. Clash reported the September 18 release date, with the artist now billed simply as MILEY across her social accounts.

The rollout began with posters in the streets of several cities and a change to her social media handles, before a teaser clip landed. Rolling Stone en Espanol described the video as the singer playing an electric guitar that makes no sound while music plays over the top.

"Music takes hold of us. We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance to it, let it out and carry on," she wrote of the record. She added that the title stands for a full heart, heartache and every part of life in between.

The album runs to ten songs and includes collaborations with the Boston band Model/Actriz and with Andrew Wyatt of Miike Snow. Beyond the artwork, which points toward rock, little has been said about how it sounds. It is listed on the release calendar.

Bass Persuades follows Something Beautiful, the conceptual album she released in 2025 and accompanied with a fashion film she directed herself. Earlier in 2026 she put the blonde wig back on for a Hannah Montana 20th anniversary special, which produced the single "Younger You".

Two nights at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles follow on October 16 and 18. The pop and rock release also arrives days after the death of her godmother Dolly Parton, covered in our report on Parton's death at 80, and the venue itself was recently in the news for its biggest sound upgrade in a generation.
