Miley Cyrus sets her 10th album Bass Persuades for September 18

She has dropped her surname for the promo run and booked two Hollywood Bowl shows in October.

Miley Cyrus has a new album on the way. Bass Persuades, her 10th studio record and her first full-length for Atlantic Records, arrives September 18, and for the promotional run she appears to be going by her first name alone. No reason has been given for the change.

The album runs 10 tracks. Model/Actriz appear on "Different Religion," and Andrew Wyatt of Miike Snow, a longtime collaborator, works on "Neon Signs." Model/Actriz will also open the two Los Angeles shows attached to the release.

Those shows are at the Hollywood Bowl on October 16 and 18, and they matter more than a two-date booking usually would. Cyrus has not undertaken a full tour in 12 years, and in a Billboard interview last year she said she had stepped away from conventional album cycles and large-scale touring in favour of smaller rooms and what she called a one-on-one connection with an audience.

She framed the venue itself as the draw. "The Hollywood Bowl is my favorite place to experience music and see my favorite artists," she wrote on Instagram, noting she had sat in those seats many times without ever taking the stage.

On the album title, her explanation was about the effect of music rather than the phrase itself. "Music takes hold of us. We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance to it, let it out and carry on," she wrote.

The visual side of the campaign is already in motion. Cyrus is guest-editing a special issue of Wonderland magazine photographed by Mario Sorrenti, and is working again with Alastair McKimm and Mert Alas on the record's imagery. Bass Persuades follows last year's Something Beautiful, which debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and drew a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album. Release dates for the rest of the pop calendar sit on the release calendar.
