Nipsey Hussle and Bino Rideaux have released their long-awaited joint album, Prolific, HotNewHipHop and AllHipHop reported this week. The 15-track project was recorded almost a decade ago, in 2017, and marks Nipsey's first posthumous full-length hip-hop album since his 2019 death.
Cardi B and Ty Dolla $ign appear together on 'I Just Wanna Know,' one of several songs released ahead of the album to build anticipation, alongside 'Reckless,' 'Sacrifices' and 'All Summer.' The late Static Major features on 'Reckless,' James Fauntleroy on 'Sacrifices,' Buddy on 'Just Like Me,' Leon Thomas on 'Vibe With Me,' and BH on 'All Summer.'
Nipsey and Bino Rideaux's history goes back to at least 2017, when they released the joint project No Pressure, featuring Dave East and the single 'Stucc In The Grind.' AllHipHop describes Prolific as built around ambition, survival, loyalty and success, with Nipsey, born Ermias Asghedom, already building his All Money In label into a movement while Rideaux represented a younger generation of Los Angeles artists coming up behind him.
The album also helps launch an apparel line of the same name from Nipsey's estate, made up of heavyweight t-shirts, hoodies, crewnecks and zip-ups featuring photographs of him. Prolific is now listed in the release calendar, and it arrives alongside other estate activity this month, including Cardi B's featured verse on the same album's 'I Just Wanna Know' and word that Nipsey once turned down a label offer from Rick Ross's MMG.
AllHipHop's review called the album a study of two Los Angeles artists moving through different stages of the same climb. On "500 Horses," Hussle raps, "My success was symbolic, my finesse was iconic, how I glowed up out the darkness," a line the outlet read as proof that even his later luxury never fully escaped the streets it grew out of.
