Rapper Nipsey Hussle's children reportedly split his estate

The children of rapper Nipsey Hussle have reportedly received their share of his estate, more than seven years after he was killed in South Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Times reported, citing TMZ and court documents. Hussle's two minor children, daughter Emani and son Kross, were each paid 50% of assets from an estate TMZ estimated at $11 million, with the case reaching final court approval over the weekend.

Hussle, born Ermias Asghedom, was a Grammy-nominated rapper in the hip-hop world and a well-known community organizer in South Los Angeles, work that continued through his Marathon brand. He was shot and killed on March 31, 2019, outside his Marathon Clothing store on West Slauson Avenue at age 33, an attack that also wounded two other men who survived.

Eric Holder Jr., a Crips gang member, was convicted of first-degree murder in July 2022 and sentenced the following February to at least 60 years in prison, made up of 25 years to life for the murder, another 25 years to life under a firearm sentencing enhancement, and 10 additional years for the assaults on the other two men. He is serving that sentence at California State Prison, Corcoran, and will not be eligible for parole until November 2039.

Hussle's family has continued building on his legacy in the years since his death, including expanding the Marathon brand into a burger restaurant last year. His brother, Samiel "Blacc Sam" Asghedom, told the Times the brand reflects his late brother's philosophy of steady, long-term effort, recalling Hussle's own saying that "it's a marathon," not something that happens overnight.

Court documents reviewed by TMZ did not disclose the exact dollar amount either child received, only that the split was even. Neither Hussle's estate representatives nor his family have publicly commented further on the distribution beyond what has surfaced in the filings.
