Stevie Nicks sings Stand Back on Jimmy Kimmel Live before a festival set

Stevie Nicks played Stand Back to close out Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, with Jelly Roll sitting in as guest host. It was her return to late-night television, and she brought the song that has followed her around since 1983.

Consequence wrote that her voice rode over the song's synths while Waddy Wachtel, described there as her longtime collaborator, took the guitar without burying the singing. JamBase reported that her longtime solo band backed the performance, which closed the episode.

Stand Back came out in May 1983 as the lead single from The Wild Heart, her second solo album. It reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 2 on the Billboard Top Rock Tracks chart, and it has stayed in her sets for more than four decades. JamBase, which calls her a two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, pointed back to a 1988 radio interview where she named it one of her favorite songs to play for the energy it puts into a room.

The booking sat days ahead of a bigger one. Nicks was heading to Irvine on the Saturday for the first Daisy Chain Fields, the all-female festival Olivia Rodrigo put together, and Consequence reckoned Stand Back was close to a certainty on that setlist too.

There is other movement around her. Earlier in August, Lindsey Buckingham said the two of them were "talking all the time now" and hinted at something for 2027. "I think quite a few things will reveal themselves," he said, which is as far as he was willing to go. Consequence added the reason 2027 might matter: it is the year Rumours turns 50.

Late-night stages have been doing more than promotion lately: the Linda Lindas used the same show to reveal an album. Whatever comes of the 2027 hints will show up on the tour guide, filed with the rest of her rock dates.
