The Avalanches have revealed the full tracklist for No Bad Memories, their fourth album, and it runs to 31 songs with a guest list to match.
Across those tracks the Australian group work with Jamie xx, Panda Bear, Karen O, Rivers Cuomo, Mike Patton, Barry Can't Swim, Carly Simon, Haruomi Hosono, Ryoji Ikeda and Haley Joel Osment, along with Loaded Honey, Vegyn, John Glacier, Erick the Architect, Suzanne Ciani, Khadija Al Hanafi, Portraits of Tracy, Nikki Nair, Jessy Lanza and Prentiss.
Some of it is already out. The album was announced last month with "Can't Get Over Losing You" featuring Portraits of Tracy, and before that came "Every Single Weekend" with Jamie xx, "Together" with Nikki Nair, Jessy Lanza and Prentiss, and "Blue Shadows" featuring Karen O.
The tracklist fills in the rest. Rivers Cuomo turns up alongside Vegyn and Baby Marlboro on "All The Time In The World," Panda Bear guests on "Highfield," Barry Can't Swim appears twice including on "Magic Wand," Carly Simon sings on "One More Fantasy," Patton contributes to three songs, and Yellow Magic Orchestra co-founder Haruomi Hosono closes the record on "The Pavements Light."
Osment's two spots are commercial parodies, "El Dorado TV Spot" and "Superfun! TV Spot," the second of which also carries Patton. They sit inside the album's surreal corporate world, built around the way jingles, ads, startup sounds and brand identities lodge in a listener's head long after the products are gone. A new trailer starring Osment, made with Liam Oz, works the same seam.
Formats differ. The digital edition carries four tracks the physical versions do not, among them "Total Recall" and the Loaded Honey version of "Final Credits," while vinyl, CD and cassette get "Evergreen Altar" featuring Vegyn instead.
No Bad Memories is due October 16 through Modular Recordings, with preorders open. It is one of the larger electronic releases on the release calendar this autumn.
