Cameron Winter answers talk that he sings on a Phoebe Bridgers album

Geese frontman Cameron Winter has responded to speculation that he sings under an alias on Phoebe Bridgers' new album, Lost Weekend, NME reported August 5. Bridgers is due to release the record, her third, on August 14 via Dead Oceans, following 2020's Punisher, deepening the same indie circuit Winter's band Geese belongs to. She has already shared its lead single, "Lost Boys," and revealed the album's full tracklist.

Rolling Stone, among the first outlets to review the album, suggested Winter may have secretly contributed vocals, pointing to an unknown guest named "Son-John Johnson" credited alongside Bridgers' Boygenius bandmates Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker and longtime collaborator Christian Lee Hutson; Jack Antonoff and Alex G provided additional production. The mystery credit reportedly appears on two songs, taking backing vocals on "Kill Me" and duetting with Bridgers on "I Can't Wait," where the pair sing together, "All my life, side by side, Hyde Jekyll Hyde, finally together." Rolling Stone said the voice would sound "awfully familiar" to fans of Geese and Winter's solo work, calling his falsetto "unmistakable."

Asked directly about the claim, Winter laughed and told Rolling Stone, "I'll have to contact my lawyer," without confirming or denying it. A Reddit fan had predicted a Winter and Bridgers collaboration almost a year earlier, guessing he might turn up as an uncredited feature the way her tour manager did on "Garden Song."

Geese are booked for a busy run through the fall: Reading & Leeds later this month, a headline slot at End of the Road in September, Electric Picnic in Ireland, and two nights each at Glasgow's Barrowland Ballroom and London's Troxy. NME gave the band's 2025 album, Getting Killed, a five-star review, calling it "another exhilaratingly free-spirited turn from the New York cult heroes" and naming it the outlet's best album of that year.

Bridgers, meanwhile, heads out on The Lost Tour later this year, starting in North America in September before crossing to the UK and Europe in November and December, with a "no phones" policy locking away recording devices at every show. The full album has since arrived, and Cameron Winter remains a name fans keep attaching to its most talked-about mystery credit.
