Cameron Winter is putting out his first live album. Live at Carnegie Hall arrives on October 9 through Partisan Records and Play It Again Sam, and it holds the solo show he played at the New York hall in December 2025.
Most of the 11 songs are Heavy Metal material rebuilt at the piano, among them "Love Takes Miles", "Cancer of the Skull", "The Rolling Stones", "$0" and "Nina + Field of Cops". NME wrote that he closed the set with the 2024 singles "Take It With You" and "Vines", which end the record too.
Three of the songs have not been released anywhere else: "It All Fell in the River", which opens, "Emperor XIII in Shades" third and "If You Turn Back Now" seventh. DIY described them as a glimpse past his first solo record.
The tracklist as printed varies in one place. The Line of Best Fit listed 12 songs, including the Heavy Metal cut "Drinking Age", while Pitchfork, Clash, DIY, NME and The Fader all printed 11 without it. Exclaim settled it, reporting that Winter played "Drinking Age" that night and that it is missing from the release.
The concert took place on December 11, 2025, by Exclaim's account, and sold out. Pitchfork wrote that it made Winter one of the youngest solo musicians to headline the hall's Stern Auditorium, and The Fader placed it at the end of a short American run behind Heavy Metal that had otherwise been played in small venues and churches.
Paul Thomas Anderson was filming that night with Benny Safdie helping behind the camera, and when the album was announced nobody would say what the footage was for. Exclaim reported on August 25 that the Anderson-directed film would open in US theaters on November 20, released through Janus Films and Criterion, with 35mm prints touring into mid-January.
Heavy Metal came out at the very end of 2024 and grew into a cult record through 2025, the year Geese released Getting Killed. Winter has spent most of 2026 on the road with that band, whose year has already taken in two sold-out Glasgow shows. The live album goes on the release calendar with the rest of the autumn's indie records.
One more detail from the packaging: the inner sleeve of the vinyl shows Winter kissing Andrew Carnegie, the man the hall is named for.
