Cledus T. Judd has released a parody of Ella Langley's "Be Her," called "Meet Her (Tribute to Ella)," complete with its own music video, Taste of Country reported August 13 in an exclusive premiere. The outlet says it marks another comeback for the country parodist, who first retired in 2015.
Judd's wife inspired the bit: watching Langley's "Be Her" video on CMT, she asked who in country music he had not met yet, and he pointed at Langley on screen, saying "her." He and his wife Amanda wrote the song together that night, and the chorus keeps it simple: "I just wanna meet her so bad, meet her so, I just wanna meet her, I just wanna meet her." Family helped finish the video, with his daughter Caitlyn filming and a family friend editing it.
The video mirrors the look of Langley's own "Be Her" clip, with Judd dancing, accepting props and pleading his case inside red and black boxes, dressed for the part in a wig with bangs to match Langley's style.
Judd has written and recorded country parodies for roughly 30 years, spoofing songs by Shania Twain, Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney, among others. His best known parody is "I Love NASCAR," a take on Toby Keith's "I Love This Bar," and he made a prior comeback in 2018 with a parody of Morgan Wallen's "Up Down."
"Meet Her" streams everywhere starting August 14 via StarVista Music. It lands during a strong stretch for Ella Langley, who has kept the top spot on the MusicRow songwriter chart and paired with Koe Wetzel on the duet 'Jaded' earlier this month.
