Ella Langley and Koe Wetzel have a new duet out called Jaded, Taste of Country reported on August 7. The two wrote it with Ernest and Jordan Schmidt, and it appears on the expanded version of Wetzel's album The Night Champion.
The release capped days of teasers, including a Nashville billboard, a mysterious voicemail and cryptic social posts that had fans guessing the two were teaming up again before Wetzel confirmed the duet himself on social media.
Wetzel sings lead throughout, asking a girl who left her jaded why she got that way; Taste of Country called it a country song with a rock edge, though less aggressive than the pair's earlier duet That's Why We Fight, from Langley's 2023 EP Excuse the Mess.
"She's been one of my favorite people to write and sing with for a long time," Wetzel said of Langley, adding that returning to the studio together had been something the two talked about "every time we saw each other." Langley said the two have "known each other and been friends for a long time," recalling that Wetzel was one of the first artists she ever toured with, back in 2022.
The duet lands as part of an expanded version of The Night Champion, Wetzel's critically acclaimed album from June, which added five new songs to its original eleven tracks. Wetzel's Night Champion World Tour continues across the US, Canada and Australia this year, with support from acts including Shane Smith & The Saints, Wyatt Flores, Corey Kent and Wade Bowen on select dates.
The duet lands in a busy stretch for Langley, who has kept the top spot on the MusicRow songwriter chart and seen her song Be Her turned into a parody by Cledus T. Judd.
Wetzel has also had success on the radio with his duet High Road, alongside Jessie Murph, while Langley's other duets include You Look Like You Love Me and Don't Mind If I Do, both with Riley Green.
