Fontaines D.C. have announced the largest headline tour they have played: 20 shows across 14 countries in October and November, taking in Europe and the UK. The run opens at the MEO Arena in Lisbon on October 21, five days after their fifth album lands.

The routing is arena-scale almost everywhere. After Lisbon come Madrid's Movistar Arena, Barcelona's Sant Jordi Club, Bologna's Unipol Arena, Belgrade, Prague, Lodz, Berlin's Max-Schmeling-Halle, Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen's Royal Arena, Amsterdam's Ziggo Dome, Antwerp and the Accor Arena in Paris. The UK leg then runs Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds and Birmingham before closing at the O2 Arena in London on November 27. Irish fans have been told to wait for a separate announcement.

Dopamine Chamber arrives on October 16 through XL Recordings, produced by James Ford. It follows 2024's Romance, which went platinum, and pushes the band further from the guitar-driven sound they started with into something more atmospheric and electronic. Putting the tour five days behind the record is a deliberate sequencing choice: audiences arrive knowing the new songs, or at least having had the chance to.

Tickets go on general sale at 10am BST on September 3, with a presale from September 1.

The announcement landed in the middle of a heavy festival weekend. The band headlined Reading on the Friday, Leeds on the Saturday and Electric Picnic on the Sunday, which is about as visible a platform as an autumn tour announcement can get.

The dates are filed under indie and rock, and they sit with the rest of the schedule on the tour guide. We covered the band confirming a fifth album was on the way and the arrival of its lead single Marianne, and Kurt Vile joined them onstage at La Route Du Rock earlier in the month.
